Toilets, Lavatories & Repair Parts — Dickson & Waverly, TN
Bathroom fixtures and, just as often, the small parts that keep the existing ones working. DC P&E stocks complete toilets and lavatory sinks alongside the flappers, fill valves, wax rings, supply lines and traps that account for most of what actually goes wrong in a bathroom. The Waverly counter sees this every day.
Measure the Rough-In Before You Buy a Toilet
The rough-in is the distance from the finished wall to the center of the closet flange bolts. Twelve inches is standard, but older Middle Tennessee homes turn up 10-inch and 14-inch rough-ins regularly. A toilet built for the wrong rough-in will not sit against the wall correctly, and there is no adjusting it after the fact.
Measure from the wall — not the baseboard — to the center of the bolt caps at the base of the existing toilet, and bring that number to the counter. It takes thirty seconds and saves a return trip.
Common Toilet Problems — and the Part That Fixes Them
| Symptom | Usual cause | Part |
|---|---|---|
| Runs continuously | Flapper no longer sealing | Flapper |
| Runs, water above overflow tube | Fill valve not shutting off | Fill valve |
| Refills on its own periodically | Slow leak past the flapper | Flapper, flush valve seat |
| Water at the base | Failed seal at the flange | Wax ring, closet bolts |
| Handle loose or won't flush | Broken handle or chain | Handle, lift chain |
| Weak flush | Clog, or partially closed supply | Angle stop, flush valve |
Bring the old part in if you can. Matching a flapper or fill valve on sight is far faster than matching it from a description over the counter.

Common Questions
What is a toilet rough-in and why does it matter?
It is the distance from the finished wall to the center of the closet flange bolts. Standard is 12 inches, but older homes are sometimes 10 or 14. Measure before you buy — a toilet with the wrong rough-in will not sit correctly.
Do you stock toilet repair parts?
Yes, and it is one of the most common counter visits we get. Flappers, flush valves, fill valves, rebuild kits, wax rings, closet bolts, supply lines, angle stops, handles and seats. Bring the old part if you can.
Why does my toilet keep running?
Most often a worn flapper that is no longer sealing, or a fill valve that will not shut off. Both are inexpensive and stocked at both stores. If the tank water sits above the overflow tube, suspect the fill valve.
What toilet and lavatory brands do you carry?
Mansfield Plumbing, Zurn and Delta among others, with Delta covering the faucet side. Anything we do not stock can be custom ordered.
Do you carry ADA or comfort height toilets?
We can supply them. Floor availability varies, so call ahead and we will confirm or order it in.
Fixing a bathroom this weekend?
Call before you drive out and we will check the shelf for you.
